I was at this gig (and I attended an Elton John concert at the same venue, six days ago) and I remember feeling a little disappointed at the end of the show. I thought it was a little too "laid back" to my taste and Dire Straits' songs were reduced to the strict minimum which amounted to a concert lacking of strength. But when I watch videos tapped during this gig, nostalgia overwhelms me and I end up saying: "it was a rather sweet night!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3246251885422304880.post-70901722946668794482018-02-24T04:31:02.037-08:002018-02-24T04:31:02.037-08:00I would definitely agree that the "night"...I would definitely agree that the "night" picture isn't even close to dark. In fact, I'd almost call that daytime. To me, it's not truly dark until the blue is gone from the sky and you can go stargazing with a telescope. That means even Copenhagen doesn't get night in June and London and Amsterdam get about 2-3 hours of true darkness. I am so envious, but also so happy to know there are other die-hard Knopfler fans out there. Hoping very much that he will have a new tour coming up, perhaps 40 years since Sultan or his 70th birthday tour. I live in NYC and praying I get to see him before he stops touring altogether. Wishing you the best. That this will be the final time that you follow this bunch of journeyman musicians around. This blog has been good to read especially alongside the acccounts those of Richard Bennet and Guy Fletcher. I had a spell posting on the a Mark in Time website but was ejected twice. I like the music but I asked myself would I want to go personally to see this band play. Moreover would I feel comfortable being in close quarters to the crowds? As you explain and as you know people vary from place to place but is there a common factor to the audiences beyond the fact they like MK music. In the UK the MK music was adopted by what I call the "greasy pole climbers" of the UK social scene. Guy Fletcher has all the attributes of this "class" of people who exist all over Europe. You don't and neither does Richard Bennet. But I ask my self the question do I want to be associated with the MK band as a fan...? Has the experience reinforced my liking of MK and his work? Bahn puts out. DB have bought up several passenger and freight companies and shed a few when they realise that the way they think is not the same as the way that companies in other parts of Europe think. It really would be better if they would stick to one speciality..only two choices that would be freight or passengers. Other German carriers like Lufthansa have been successful in this diversification but the railways have just to many variables. If I may say so Isaac you have that logical characteristic of order and conformity that is so very Germanic. All is good when events progress to a plan but all is not so good when they don't. On the upside corruption is non existant and the Germans are an honest people and the companies they run reflect that. Move farther east and south and we still speak German but we have a more open attitude and a little faster way to deal with inconsistancy...which can be lots of fun...naughty but fun. The Spanish took all the sand off the coast line to build those hotels. You probably did not notice but many parts away from the tourist spots are arrid. The coastline in those parts was raped to make money. Sad.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3246251885422304880.post-86726838445223403622013-07-31T13:15:51.364-07:002013-07-31T13:15:51.364-07:00Sorry about the cercanias mistake. Large corporations like Warner and Universal often have more net income than whole countries like the Netherlands or Portugal. They often challenge the laws within these countries just as a big man would threaten a smaller man. This might sound crude in the year 2013 but in essence that is how the world works. You and me live in the EUR sector and we have help at hand if we feel our rights and wellbeing are threatened by an organisation who is resident in the EUR. If the seller or provider is resident in the USA there is another law enforcer. You must have a local politician...someone who has been elected by the people..go find them and tell them your story. Ask them to contact the EUR HQ for trade practice in Brussels. There are many good people who want to preserve the 1000 years it took to make our law system and the 165 million people who were killed in war this last century. In both the USA and the EUR has seller has the right not to sell goods to people he does not want to sell to, but, if the seller has agreed to sell you something at a future date at a certain price then that's a contract. The key thing is that contracts can be deemed invalid if the conditions are outside the Federal Law in both USA and EUR.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3246251885422304880.post-3648483982734434502013-07-29T11:28:25.011-07:002013-07-29T11:28:25.011-07:00I don't know about international law. I think it can be legal, when the terms and conditions are clear about it. I didn't read the terms and conditions from Bleecker Street, so don't know what they wrote about it. Sometimes terms and conditions make clear that if there are not enough sales in presale they are allowed to cancel the buy.
